EMBRACE THE FIRE

(Andersen)

Devin was down in the dumps again

Another beating had him starting to doubt

Totally blindsided, punched from behind

Just when he thought he had it figured all out

Well his job, his band and his boyfriend

All said they needed to get a fresh start

So he wallowed in his tears for a while

Until a voice inside him said:

Embrace the Fire!

Release your ire!

Higher and higher!

      Embrace the fire!

Jodi jumped off the deep end

She couldn’t bare to think of life on her own

23 years of Susan by her side

The only lover she had ever known

As she waved goodbye for the last time

She thought she’d never heal her broken heart

So she lost a year as a slave to fear

Until a voice inside her said:

Embrace the fire!

Release your ire!

Higher and higher!

Embrace the fire!

Devin and Jody came out the other side

stronger for what they went through

Parts of em’ each ended up dying that year

Giving way to versions better and new

Looking back they smile and they give thanks

To the force that set them free

To the will and the flow of the river of life

For new beginnings that they couldn’t see

Embrace the fire!

Release your ire!

Higher and higher!

Embrace the fire!

Embrace the fire!

Release your ire!

Higher and higher!

Embrace the fire!
